Initial consultation.

Your initial consultation gives you the opportunity to explain your situation and to find your feet in the therapeutic environment. This is the right time to see if we are a good fit for one another. There is no pressure to begin regular therapy beyond this point.

Continuing therapy

Should you wish to start regular therapy following your initial consultation, we will meet for 50-minutes on a weekly basis. I usually ask that you commit to 6 further sessions, at which point we will have a review to see how you are finding our work together. We will discuss whether you’d like to continue working with an open-ended agreement, for a fixed number of sessions or to end therapy.

  • Anna

I had been struggling with my mental health for years and I knew I wanted to try talking therapy before turning to medication. I wanted to understand why I was finding daily life so challenging, work through my issues and make myself better. Having weekly sessions has helped me build routine and show up for myself. It’s helped me navigate and manage my emotions, providing a safe outlet. It has been a very validating and reassuring experience.

  • Janey

I came to Psychotherapy because my partner was struggling with cancer. On top of that I was struggling with obesity and related health problems and I was becoming unable to cope at work. Alexander helped me to find the resolve to face my own problems and to build strength to deal with my partner’s illness as well.

  • Paul

I went to see Alexander because I had suffered rejection in my relationship. As a recovering heroin addict I felt that I might relapse if I did not address the issues that the end of my relationship brought up. He helped me to accept what had occurred as well as exploring the reasons why many of the bad things happened in my life.
